KCLAM Demographic Survey

Fellow Diplomates:

Probably the last thing in the world that you want to see is another questionnaire.  Everybody uses this method to gather information to help them address one issue or another.  By this time you are thinking why should this be any different and why should I spend the time filling this out.  First, it should be a relatively painless exercise as there are a limited number of questions and they are structured in such a way that it should take you very little time to respond to them.  Secondly, its KCLAM’s opportunity to get to know its Diplomates better in terms of their careers and their areas of expertise.

Through our membership in the International Association of Colleges of Laboratory Animal Medicine (IACLAM), we will be embarking on a number of activities that will require us to call upon Diplomates to participate in matters designed to advanced our College as an authoritative source for laboratory animal medicine and science.  In order to do this, we need to be able to clearly define our resources and expertise in terms of our individual Diplomates and to understand the environments in which they work.  The questions in the survey are designed to elicit an understanding of your specialized experience and expertise.  They also will provide some basic statistics about our membership which will help us in planning for the college.  For example, the length of time that you have practiced in the field of laboratory animal medicine and the segment of the biomedical research community that you practice in are some of the important determinants in trying to develop plans to address your individual needs better as well as to identify individuals who may be willing to participate in working groups on a national and/or international basis.  This information will also help us in our internal discussions regarding recruiting Diplomates into the field and the development of training materials.  We have asked that you include your full name on the survey so that we can contact you based on your expertise as the need arises.  Your individual responses will not be identified nor will they be made available to anyone without your expressed consent.

While the time it will take you to complete this survey is relatively short, the resulting information will provide long term benefits to the College as well as to IACLAM.

The KCLAM Board of Directors strongly encourages all Diplomates to complete the following survey since the information provided will be critical for the continued development of the College.
